The Aquatics technician will perform field operations associated with the inspection and treatment of lakes, ponds, and various waterways for the control of aquatic weeds and algae. The technician will be trained to recognize problem weeds and to apply the appropriate herbicide/algaecide to control or eliminate the aquatic weeds.

Shift: Monday - Friday; (end times may vary based on business needs) Weekends and/or overtime may be required based on business need

Pay: $14.00 per hour

Candidates should be available to work a flexible schedule and be willing to travel overnight on a regular basis.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Utilize a map to drive to assigned treatment areas and to locate specific Treatment site while towing a trailer or boat
  • Ability to drive a variety of different sized motorboats or ATV's (All Terrain Vehicles) and use a high-pressure sprayer to treat assigned sites
  • Inspect water bodies carefully, identify plants correctly, measure chemical amounts accurately and dispense treatment correctly utilizing a 75-80 pound backpack in a safe, proper and timely manner
  • Performs cleaning and daily inspections of vehicle and equipment to verify working condition and communicate any issues to the supervisor
  • Document and communicate daily work activity including product used to ensure completion of customer contracts
  • Responsible for making sure safe work practices and procedures are followed at all time

Successful Candidate Must:

  • Be 18 years of age or older
  • Possess a high school degree or equivalent with high school level math skills
  • Communicate effectively in English in both written and verbal forms
  • Have a valid Driver's License with an excellent driving record
  • Ability to sit and drive a vehicle for extended periods of time as well as walk extensively
  • Required to pass the Minnesota Department of Agriculture General Standards Exam (training provided)
  • Capable of using handheld technical devices including, but not limited to, smartphones, GPS, system applications
  • Have good physical dexterity and the ability to bend, lift, and carry all water systems (some in excess of 100 lbs.) with a partner
