The Aquatic Service technicians will be responsible for a comprehensive inspection of aquatic ecosystems and the application of appropriate herbicide and/or algaecide to control or eliminate aquatic plants and algae within Northern Illinois.

Shift: Monday- Friday; 6:00am 2:30pm (end times may vary based on business needs)

Pay: $14.00 per hour

Job Duties:

  • Must be able to drive a pickup truck, launch and trailer various boats to apply herbicide and algaecides
  • Inspect water bodies for plant and algae presence via boat or from shore
  • Identify aquatic plant and algae species
  • Read, understand, and interpret chemical label guidelines in compliance with Federal law
  • Measure chemical and record all treatment data accurately and apply treatment via 50 lbs. electric backpack or with the use of a pressurized spray application system
  • Maintain work equipment in a clean and safe manor

Successful Candidate Must:

  • Be 18 years of age or older
  • Possess a high school degree or equivalent with high school level math skills
  • Communicate effectively in English in both written and verbal forms
  • Have a valid Driver's License with an excellent driving record
  • Ability to sit and drive a vehicle for extended periods of time as well as walk extensively
  • Required to pass the Illinois Department of Agriculture General Standards Exam (training provided)
  • Capable of using handheld technical devices including, but not limited to, smartphones, GPS, system applications
  • Have good physical dexterity and the ability to bend, lift, and carry all water systems (some in excess of 100 lbs.) with a partner
  • Candidate must be comfortable performing assigned duties outdoors while walking through various and challenging terrain, including but not limited to water, heavy vegetation and uneven land, throughout residential communities, urban environments and forested areas where environmental conditions are affected by weather
