Clarke of Roselle, IL is seeking to hire a Seasonal Bike Technician to treat community catch basins for mosquito larvae populations. By following treatment route maps and working on a team, the Bike Technician will ride through communities and apply a biological larvacide treatment. This position is perfect for someone who is passionate about public health, sustainability, and enjoys riding a bicycle outdoors. This position earns a competitive wage of $16/hr. and generally works a 6:30AM-3PM shift Monday-Friday (end times may vary based on business needs). The Bike Technician works on average 40 hours per week and supports the summer seasonal operations (generally April - September).


As a Bike Technician, you are responsible for driving a company issued bicycle and treating catch basins to control mosquito larvae populations. You love your Bike Technician job as you get to be out of an office and enjoying nature during the early morning and afternoon hours. A map will be given to you by your supervisor for you to utilize as you safely navigate your bike through treatment routes. You have excellent attention to detail as you apply treatments accurately, safely, and in a timely manner. Lastly, you document all activity to ensure customer's contracts are completed.

When you are not servicing customer accounts, you are performing inspections and maintenance on your equipment, attending training, or helping in other aspects of your field. Your passion for public health, the outdoors, and nature shines through as you complete your work each day.

  • Be 18 years of age or older
  • Possess a high school degree or equivalent with high school level math skills
  • Communicate effectively in English in both written and verbal forms
  • Have a valid Driver's License with an excellent driving record
  • Ability to sit and drive a vehicle for extended periods of time as well as walk extensively
  • Must be able to sit and ride a bicycle for extended periods of time (may ride up to 15 20 miles per day)
  • Required to pass the Illinois Department of Agriculture General Standards Exam (training provided)
  • Capable of using handheld technical devices including, but not limited to, smartphones, GPS, system applications
  • Have good physical dexterity and the ability to bend, lift, and ride a bicycle for extended periods.
  • Candidate must be comfortable riding a bicycle down subdivision streets and providing applications to catch basins street curbs. The candidate will be subject to bicycle training & traffic skills 101 in which they will be required to pass before performing treatments in the field.
