Clarke of Nunica, MI is seeking to hire an Aquatic Service Technician Assistant that will be responsible for assisting the fulltime Applicator by posting required signs around ponds and lakes. The Aquatic Assistant may also help with providing a comprehensive inspection of aquatic ecosystems and assisting with the applications of appropriate herbicide and/or algaecide to control or eliminate invasive aquatic plants and algae species. This position earns a competitive wage of $14/hr. and generally works a 7:00AM-3:30PM shift Monday Friday (times may vary based on business needs). The Aquatic Service Technician works on average 20-40 hours per week and supports the summer seasonal operations.


As an Aquatic Services Technician Assistant, you will partner with the fulltime Applicator and drive the Company provided pickup truck/trailer to account locations and identify plant and algae species to be treated. After successfully identifying treatment areas, the Aquatics Assistant will assist with the application of herbicides and algaecides via a backpack sprayer or pressurized spray application. You love your Aquatic Service Technician job as you get to be out of an office and working around the water during the early morning and afternoon hours. You have excellent attention to detail as you accurately measure products and document your findings.

When you are not visiting customer properties, you are assisting with inspections and maintenance on your equipment, attending training, or helping in other aspects of your field. Your passion for public health and nature shines through as you complete your work each day.

  • Be 18 years of age or older
  • Possess a high school degree or equivalent with high school level math skills
  • Communicate effectively in English in both written and verbal forms
  • Have a valid Driver's License with an excellent driving record
  • Some paid travel and overnight hotel stays in and around the area will be required
  • Ability to sit and drive a vehicle for extended periods of time as well as walk extensively
  • Must be able to work through the end of our season (September/October)
  • May be required to pass the Michigan Aquatics Applicator exam (training provided)
  • Capable of using handheld technical devices including, but not limited to, smartphones, GPS, and system applications
  • Be able to lift and carry backpacks of up to 75 pounds

  • Have good physical dexterity and the ability to bend, lift, and carry all water systems (some in excess of 100 lbs.) with a partner
  • Candidate must be comfortable performing assigned duties outdoors while walking through various and challenging terrain, including but not limited to water, heavy vegetation and uneven land, throughout residential communities, urban environments and forested areas where environmental conditions are affected by weather.

  • Must be comfortable working in and around water and have the ability to swim
  • Ability to effectively partner with cross functional teams to meet performance objectives and to support mission and vision of the Company
  • Ability to travel to multiple site locations to meet the needs of the business
