Clarke of Wellington, FL is seeking to hire an Aquatic Biologist that that will be responsible for the comprehensive inspection of aquatic ecosystems and the application of appropriate herbicide and/or algaecide to control or eliminate invasive aquatic plants and algae species. Clarke Aquatic Services was established to provide important services that help our customers to maintain healthy and clear waterways. This is accomplished through comprehensive inspection of the water site and application of herbicides and algaecides that help to keep weeds and algae at bay as well as complete aeration services.


As an Aquatic Biologist, you will be responsible for surveying, inspecting, and treating lakes, ponds, canals, and various waterways to control aquatic weeds and algae. Your attention to detail shines through as you carefully identify problem weeds and use your expertise in applying appropriate herbicides to control and eliminate those species. You love your Aquatic Biologist career as you get to be out of an office and working on the water during the early morning and afternoon hours.

** Please note that this position spends the majority of the workday outdoors in the heat and elements. It is not a lab, research or field testing position. ** 

  • 1-3 years previous work experience in the Aquatic Services industry preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge of regional plant, weed and algae identification preferred
  • Previous extensive boating operation experience including ability to trailer and launch boat preferred
  • Ability to travel to meet the needs of the business
  • Valid drivers' license and clean driving record
  • Ability to obtain necessary state licenses
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Ability to read and follow maps
  • Capability to lift up to 75 pounds and good physical dexterity
  • College degree in related field (Biological/Environmental sciences, Wildlife and Fisheries Management, etc.) preferred or equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Possess high school level math skills
  • Ability to effectively partner with cross functional teams to meet performance objectives and to support mission and vision and values of the Company
  • The desire to learn and go "above and beyond" are an absolute must!
  • Comfortable working outdoors, on the water, in an environment that may include heavy vegetation, uneven terrain, various species of wildlife and varying weather conditions using boats, gators, and backpack sprayers.
