Clarke Aquatic Services of Clearwater, MN is seeking to hire a Seasonal Aquatic Service Technician that will be responsible for a comprehensive inspection of aquatic ecosystems and the application of appropriate herbicide and/or algaecide to control or eliminate invasive aquatic plants and algae species. This position earns a competitive wage of $14/hr. and generally works a Monday Friday schedule (end times may vary based on business needs). Weekends and/or overtime may be required based on business needs. The Aquatic Service Technician works on average 40 hours per week and supports the summer seasonal operations (generally April September).


As an Aquatic Services Technician, you will arrive at our office each morning and then take our Company provided pickup truck/trailer to account locations and perform inspections to identify plants and algae species to need to be treated. After successfully identifying treatment areas, you will operate a motorboat to apply EPA approved herbicides and algaecides via a backpack sprayer or pressurized spray systems.

You love your Aquatic Technician job as you get to be out of an office and working on the water during the early morning and afternoon hours. You have excellent attention to detail as you accurately measure products and document your findings.

When you are not visiting customer properties, you will be assisting in other areas of our business. Your passion for public health and nature shines through as you complete your work each day.

  • Be 18 years of age or older
  • Possess a high school degree or equivalent with high school level math skills
  • Communicate effectively in English in both written and verbal forms
  • Have a valid Driver's License with an excellent driving record
  • Ability to sit and drive a vehicle for extended periods of time as well as walk extensively
  • Required to pass the Minnesota Department of Agriculture General Standards Exam (training provided)
  • Capable of using handheld technical devices including, but not limited to, smartphones, GPS, system applications
  • Have good physical dexterity and the ability to bend, lift, and carry all water systems (some in excess of 100 lbs.) with a partner
  • Must be comfortable working in and around water and have the ability to swim
  • Candidate must be comfortable performing assigned duties outdoors and on the water while walking through various and challenging terrain, including but not limited to water, heavy vegetation and uneven land, throughout residential communities, urban environments and forested areas where environmental conditions are affected by weather
